Maleny Garden Club Sunshine Coast Events

Gardening on the Edge

When: 10 June 2017
Time: 9am-4pm
Where: Maleny and Flaxton
Cost: $20 for all six gardens

This year the event has three gardens in the Flaxton area, one in North Maleny, one in Maleny and the other in Booroobin.
All profits are donated to the local community.
There will be a garden market at the Maleny Showgrounds featuring stallholders selling plants, art, craft and produce.
Entry to all six open gardens is $20, while entry to three gardens is $15.
One garden can be visited for $5.
This year Pattemore House will be featured.

Sunshine Coast Choral Festival

When: 10 June 2017
Time: 1.30pm-4pm
Where: Lake Kawana Community Centre
Cost: $15

Participating choirs include Cool Harmonies, Global Harmonies Community Choir, Hot Ginger Chorus, INsingC, Inspiration Choir, Joy of Singing – Maleny, New World Rhythm, Sweet Chilli, Sunshine Statesmen Barbershop Chorus and Tapestry.
Get your tickets at the door.
General is admission $15, while children under 12 are free.

Voices on the Coast

Voices on the Coast

When: 18 July 2017
Where: University of the Sunshine Coast, 90 Sippy Downs Drive, Sippy Downs
Cost: $14.00
More than 4500 students from years four to 12 (aged nine to 18 years) attend the festival.
At the festival, students engage in author talks and writing, poetry and illustration workshops.
The festival is presented by Immanuel Lutheran College and the University of the Sunshine Coast.

Sunshine Coast Monster Trucks and Fireworks

Sea Fm 91.9 Festival of Fire

When: 27 May
Time: 4pm
Where: Caloundra Sharks Rugby League Grounds, Gregory Street, Golden Beach
Cost: $20-$35

There will be monster trucks, seven insane fireworks displays, car stunts and more.

The Festival of Fire will also feature live music, giveaways, kids face painting, food stalls and more.

KC’S Fireworks and Brisbane Arts Theatre are conducting a professional fireworks training course.

The participants of that course will each create a unique, full-scale, fireworks spectacular launched live in front of crowd of spectators at the Festival of Fire.

Cost: Nothing – it’s free!

It is a 5km run – it’s you against the clock. Run for your own enjoyment or set the pace, it’s up to you. There are no winners or losers.

Another 5km fun run for all ages, you don’t need to be an experienced runner to attend, it’s about fun and exercise among friends.

Sunshine Coast Castle

The Sunshine Castle is an award winning tourist attraction and function venue. Much in the tradition of Castles all around the world the Sunshine Castle captures the imagination of old and young alike.A stand out landmark in this location this Norman style Castle, with medieval additions, complete with moat, turrets, towers and drawbridge is completely unique in Australia.

The Castle is filled with medieval displays and other exhibitions that you are able to explore at your own pace in a self walk tour. Wander over the drawbridge into another time and feast with Kings in the Great Hall or squalor in shame in the dungeon. The Castle keep is a 24 metre look out tower that offers stunning views from Coast to Hinterland.

Children are sent on a Treasure Hunt and are able to choose a treat from the Kings treasure. A history shields tour offers detailed information on the medieval elements of the Castle and history.

Originally built to house a collection of dolls and fairytales there is still a significant collection of dolls and fairytales on display.

A visit to the Castle is ideal for a family outing or a fun experience for young and old.
