Cost: From $10 per person

New Years Eve – Mooloolaba

Where: Mooloolaba Esplanade

 

New Year’s Eve Mooloolaba is the region’s largest free celebration to welcome in the New Year. This family-friendly event will be held along Mooloolaba Esplanade on Sunday December 31 from 4pm to midnight.

 

Entertainment kicks off at 4.30pm on the Main Stage with a range of live music including:

  • Andrea Kirwin Trio
  • Mason Hope
  • Dan Horne Trio
  • The Floating Bridges
  • Vegas Please

 

Kids’ entertainment includes characters from Despicable Me 3 and Kung Fu Panda, who will be on the Sea Stage from 5pm and energetic DJ sets will keep the young ones dancing on the beach until midnight.

There will be roving street entertainment, childrens’ activities, inflatable rides and delicious food will be available from local vendors, restaurants and cafes on the Esplanade.

 

Amazing fireworks displays will light up the sky at 8.30pm and midnight to celebrate the New Year and the last event of the 50th Anniversary Naming of the Sunshine Coast.

This iconic event is a safe, secure, fully fenced, alcohol and glass free zone and intoxicated people will not be permitted entry. To reduce our impact on the environment, chemical glow sticks and glow products will not be allowed into the event. Battery operated LED products are permitted.

New Years Eve – Coolum

Where: Tickle Park

 

Tickle Park will come alive again with a massive fireworks show, sausage sizzle and lots of amusement rides for the kids from 5pm.

The Lions Club of Coolum will be hosting rides, sausage sizzle, popcorn, fairy floss, and more, so bring the whole family along for a great night. There will also be a fireworks show at 8:30pm.

The live music kicks off in the Imperial Beer Garden from 2pm with Ryan Giles and his acoustic magic, followed by local favourite Jay Bishoff from 6.30pm.

New Year’s Eve Caloundra presents an outstanding night of fun and entertainment for all the family. This year’s amazing line up of fun, talent and quality performers include the likes of Carl Wockner, direct from Nashville.

There will be great food and drink stalls, heaps of rides for the kids and a great family movie for all the family. There will also be face painters and balloonist to entertain you as well.

A fireworks show will see the end to the family festivities at 9.30pm on the foreshore of Kings Beach.

The Brewery (ticketed gig) will be pumping from 8.30pm with The Supertrouts getting the vibe just right. They’ll then hand over the stage to the one and only OKA – who will see in the New Year.

With all of the non-stop action, you will need to cool off on those hot summer days with their incredible giant waterslide, standing more than three stories high and providing stacks of fun for the young ones, and of course, those young at heart.

The MooloolaBaBQ festival is a community event on Australia Day Weekend, at the Mooloolaba Wharf precinct from 10am – 8pm, embracing everything that people in the Australian community love about the great Australian barbecue.

To celebrate this Aussie love of firing up the barbie, they have brought together a barbecue event for all the senses to incorporate a wide variety of cultures, styles of cooking, flavours and cuts. From Seafood to Pork to Beef to Lamb, whether Charred, Grilled, Smoked, Roasted, On a Spit or marinated… this is sure to have something to tempt all tastes.

 The MooloolaBaBQ festival will be hosting a National Championship Series Barbecue Competition with the Australasian Barbecue Alliance where Australia’s best teams will compete for Championship Points and AUD$6000 cash and prizes.

There will be food trucks and tents offering Texas barbecue Lamb/Pork/Beef Ribs, Sliders, German Sausages, Food market stalls with Pickles and Meat rubs, Craft beer, Celebrity guests, demonstrations, Live Entertainment , Jumping castle, Petting Zoo, Face painting and Fireworks. This Charity event is to raise money for Give Me 5 For Kids. The MooloolaBaBQ festival will definitely make your Australia Day weekend sizzle!

The Sunshine Castle is an award winning tourist attraction and function venue. Much in the tradition of Castles all around the world the Sunshine Castle captures the imagination of old and young alike.A stand out landmark in this location this Norman style Castle, with medieval additions, complete with moat, turrets, towers and drawbridge is completely unique in Australia.

The Castle is filled with medieval displays and other exhibitions that you are able to explore at your own pace in a self walk tour. Wander over the drawbridge into another time and feast with Kings in the Great Hall or squalor in shame in the dungeon. The Castle keep is a 24 metre look out tower that offers stunning views from Coast to Hinterland.

Children are sent on a Treasure Hunt and are able to choose a treat from the Kings treasure. A history shields tour offers detailed information on the medieval elements of the Castle and history.

Originally built to house a collection of dolls and fairytales there is still a significant collection of dolls and fairytales on display.

A visit to the Castle is ideal for a family outing or a fun experience for young and old.
